Task 1

Corpus!

`Corpus` (plural `corpora`) is a collection of linguistic data or texts, either spoken or written forms of real language. Also, Corpus can show us items such as (useful words, frequency, collocations, etc.)from all over the world. If a textbook is based on corpus means that we can find examples of authentic language, discover the most frequent words and phrases and built vocabulary lists. Besides, students can learn how language is really used comparing different types of English and see common mistakes from others.
Corpus is an important tool for English teachers and a useful source of information, especially with classroom methodology.
The use of corpus can help teachers to reflect on their knowledge of the language as well as critically examine grammar rules and patterns that they have to know. Corpus linguistics has an important role to play in raising their awareness to linguistic features. For example, teaching learners how to know if a particular meaning of a word is appropriately or accurately used in a context.
The corpus approach is essential to the development of a foreign language writing skill and increased confidence toward writing, in terms of how teachers can develop instructional materials and activities involving a corpus-based orientation in order to produce the most accurate explanation or description to our future students of English.

It needs to be simplified.

  2. English Profile is a project or research programme registered with the Council of Europe. The goal has been designed to provide a set of reference level descriptions for English(SM P) linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Language (CEFR), these will provide specific criteria for describing what a learner knows at a particular level of English. For example, by providing descriptions of the grammar, vocabulary and functions necessary to master language levels. In other words, the Common European Framework is a guideline used to describe achievements of learners of (SM)foreign language.
The six levels that we saw in classes were:
    A Basic User: A1 Breakthrough - A2 Waystage
    B Independent User: B1 Threshold - B2 Vantage
C Proficient User: C1 Effective Operational Proficiency - C2 Mastery

I think the English Profile should be adopted in Chile in order to improve teaching and learning in schools and to enable teachers to describe and report students achievement in the language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) in different tasks and activities (across(WW)) these levels. As an English teacher we can confirm what learners can or cannot do at each level (and()) (SM P) by using(SM)it (made(T)) us more aware of specific aspect of English development. At the same time, I think the Common European Framework should be implemented in Chile because it could be a key reference document and valuable tool in education to help teachers to plan and program (for(WW)) students learning.
